Congratulations DAN.jpg

I’ve worked with Dan over the last several years and he has advanced every VSO veteran service organization he’s served in. During my time he helped pass the PACT act for veterans as we met with our elected officials to get it past the finish line. This is a natural transition that he went from advocating for veterans to serve as a County Commissioner. So proud to support Dan.

Ryan Nabors

DAV WA Commander

We are pleased to express our support for Dan Cameron for Mason County Commissioner. Dan has continually demonstrated his dedication to Mason County through his volunteer work, community involvement, and ongoing support of local organizations and projects that make a meaningful difference. Through our involvement with Shelton Memorial Park Cemetery, we have personally witnessed his commitment firsthand. Dan has volunteered his time at the cemetery on numerous occasions and has been a strong supporter of our efforts to improve and maintain the grounds, including within our Veterans Section. One ofhis most significant contributions was helping secure donated landscaping materials for the cemetery's veteran's area. Through his involvement and community connections, these donations helped improve and enhance a section dedicated to honoring the men and women who served our country. His willingness to step forward and support projects that preserve dignity, respect, and pride within our community speaks volumes about his character. Dan understands the importance ofhonoring veterans, supporting local organizations, and maintaining community spaces that families rely on for remembrance and reflection. At Shelton Memorial Park, we value and support individuals who quietly show up for their community with honor, integrity, and a willingness to work hard without seeking recognition or notoriety. Dan has consistently demonstrated those qualities through his actions, leadership, and dedication to serving others. Beyond the cemetery, Dan has consistently shown leadership, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the people ofMason County. He is someone who believes in helping where help is needed, bringing people together, and improving the community through action rather than promises alone. We believe Dan Cameron's integrity, work ethic, and dedication to public service make him an outstanding candidate for Mason County Commissioner. We are grateful for all he has done for our cemetery and our community, and we are honored to offer him our support.

We of the Forty et 8, retired Vets of the Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq wars, table of knowledge, would be honored to endorse Dan Cameron for county commissioner, District No. 3 of Mason County for the following reasons:1. Runner-up for citizen of the year in 2024.2. He is commander of the DAV Shelton Chapter No. 60 and vice commander of Washington State DAV.3. President of the board for Crossroads, taking care of the Shelton homeless, families with children being a priority, with an annual budget of $1.9 million.4. Spends every Thursday at a Memorial Hall office of the DAV, helping vets fill out essential paperwork.Dan spends most days running around Mason County doing chores for vets, i.e., building wheelchair ramps, removing yard debris and anything to help vets. Dan’s best asset is his common sense, whether dealing with vets or the homeless, we consider that as the most essential asset when dealing with governmental problems. In summation, please vote for a dedicated vet.

I’ve known Dan for several years and we served on the Board of Directors for Shelton Centennial Lions for 5 years. Dan cares about the community and proves it through his work, he doesn’t just talk the talk he walks the walk. The projects he does are not publicized or bragged about, and most people have no idea all the work he does because he does it because he cares and not for the fanfare.

Besides all the work he does with the veterans in the County and State, he helps other members of the community. While in the Lions Club, Dan and I spent around 8 hours clearing a yard that was overgrown with blackberries for a senior homeowner that couldn’t afford to pay for help. In addition, he was instrumental in fundraising and overseeing the construction of the basketball court at the Civic Center and helped behind the scenes in vision and hearing screening at all the schools in south Mason County.

These are just a few of the multiple community service projects Dan has been involved in and why he was nominated as Citizen of the Year by the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce. What better qualifications for a Commissioner than truly caring for the County?

I try to come at public questions with an open mind — willing to weigh both sides, and never assuming that the way we've always done something is the way it has to stay done. I don't claim to have all the answers, and I put real stock in leaders who listen before they decide and who measure themselves by results rather than habit.

I got to know Dan Cameron through the DAV, where we're both active members, and that's a big part of why I'm supporting Dan for Mason County Commissioner, District 3. I've watched how he works up close. His whole approach starts with active listening and a willingness to build balanced, practical solutions instead of recycling the old ones. And his record backs it up: as board president of Crossroads he's helped move homeless families into permanent, stable housing at a 98% placement rate, and through his DAV work he's helped thousands of local veterans actually secure the benefits they earned. He pairs that with a real commitment to fiscal transparency and a tax structure that stays fair to working families.

Dan strikes me as someone who, like me, would rather do things differently to get a better outcome than keep doing them the same way out of habit.
